Homeschooling and Entomologists

On August 29th, we started school.

I am now, officially, a 10th grader. lol :)

All my school that I do is from Switched on Schoolhouse. (SOS) It is all computer based, and I love it!

When I was in 8th grade, I just did my English SOS, and then last year, and this year, I am doing all subjects. Here is a list of all the subjects that I am doing this year...

Geometry
English II
Government
Spanish I
Biology
Old Testament (Bible)

Then, I have my half credit subjects, that I won't start until January.

Civil War
American Literature

I really like my school this year! It is nice, because I don't have to wait for my mom to come and grade it. The computer does it for me! Plus, I can do it all on my own! I could do 10 lessons in each subject a day if I wanted to! (Which I have done before)

I am trying to decide if I should try to get all of my school finished early, so that I can start my Junior year before September next year, but I am not sure.

All in all, the first 2 weeks of school have been great!

Some people think that all Homeschoolers ever do, is sit around their house in their pajama's all day. But that's not true! In fact, homeschoolers do I lot of thing that Public School kids do too...Like Field Trips!

This being our 6th year being homeschooled, we have gone on a lot of field trips. We have a small homeschool group with just 3 families in it. There is 12 kids in the group-9 boys, and 3 girls. Our group has been to all sorts of places! Like the zoo, the water treatment plant, a car factory, the local 1812 Museum, The Library, a recycle center, the post office, the police station, and a lot more!

In fact, we are going on another field trip tomorrow!

We are going to be entomologists!

I am really excited! One of the mom's in the group works at a nursing home, and one of the lady's that she works at is also an entomologist. So, she is going to take us to a pond somewhere, and let us get a closer look at bugs! She said that the 4 oldest kids there would get to actually go in the pond, and look for bugs.

And guess what?

I am one of the oldest!!

I hope that it will be fun! I am planning on bringing my camera, so I will get pictures!

I am not sure what to expect, but I really don't care.

I get to play with bugs, and that is all I care about! heehee lol

TTYL!! ~Sam

That's really neat! Sometimes I wish I was homeschooled... but since I'm in college now, I guess that might be pretty hard to do. :)
